Seven things I wish someone had told me when I was 18

Turning 33 this week has made me reflect upon the advice I've been given in my life, and what advice I'd like to give my younger self given the chance. This is what I came up with...

1. Failure is inevitable, but it's not the end of the world.

Everyone fails at some point, and it's okay to make mistakes. What matters is how you learn from your failures and keep moving forward.

2. Invest in yourself.

Take the time to learn new skills, explore your interests, and develop healthy habits. These investments in yourself will pay off in the long run.

3. Be mindful of the company you keep.

Surround yourself with people who support and uplift you, and who share your values and goals. It's okay to distance yourself from those who bring negativity into your life.

4. Take risks and try new things.

Life is too short to stay in your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to take risks and pursue your passions.

5. Take care of your physical and mental health.

This includes eating well, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, and taking care of your mental health through activities like yoga, breath work and meditation.

6. Time is your most valuable resource.

Use it wisely. Prioritise the things that matter most to you, and don't waste time on things that don't.

7. Embrace change.

Life is full of surprises, and things don't always go as planned. Learn to adapt to change and see it as an opportunity for growth and learning.

What would you tell your younger self given the chance?
